These are about the best PMRs we tried (and Martyn's managed to break a fair number over the years!).

Robust, nice to handle, easy to carry and claiming to be water resistant (we'll see, although they've done pretty well in the rain so far).

The really impressive thing about the T5s is the range.  The output is no greater than any other PMR (it's restricted by law), but these certainly outperform any we've tried previously.

We use these to communicate between boat and towpath, and they've proved invaluable at flights of locks, and stretches like the narrow 'one boat wide' passage going into Llangollen where you've otherwise no idea if it's clear to proceed.

They can also be used for short tunnels, however dependent upon 'which' tunnel, if you really want to send someone ahead to check, we'd generally recommend using Marine VHF - or your mobile phone!
